At last

We're sorted with the house. After a horrible week of much anguish & stress we finally exchanged contracts this morning & are completing & moving on Thursday. Our buyer has been 'difficult' to say the least & I just hope that I never meet him as I don't trust myself to be civil. However we've got the ultimate revenge as our neighbours erected their trampoline again on Friday so he can deal with the constant sound of springs & other noise from 7.30 a.m to gone 10 p.m. at the weekend & every weekday evening as well. They even bounce in the dark!

98% of the house is boxed up, numbered & colour coded (thanks to Knitterbelle for the tip) so hopefully the move itself will go without hitch. The dogs are now safely in kennels for a few days & Vince goes to rodent kennels tomorrow. DD is at school on the day & she's being brought to the house by a friend after school so at least we've got time to move everything without extra help.

After the fiasco that was Mothers Day DD has calmed down a lot. A few days later part of the cause was revealed & to be honest I think that everything just got too much for her. She's very excited about moving house & can't wait to 'help' unpack things over the Easter holidays.

Not sure when I'll be back but things are definitely looking up!

Unhappy Mothers Day

Before I had children I had visions of quality time spent with my child/ren, painting & other messy fun when small & other more grown up but equally enjoyable activities as they got older. I knew that there would be strops & other 'difficult' times but didn't ever think that I'd have days like yesterday.

I should have been celebrating Mothers Day and as I have a child should (IMHO) have had a lovely easy day; breakfast in bed, showered with home-made gifts & generally had a lovely enjoyable day with my family.

Instead the child from hell was in our home, shouting & causing a lot of unhappiness. I don't know if it's hormonal, stress because we're due to move soon, fear about the house move or even guilt as she knows we're moving to get her into the school of our + her choice - or quite probably a turbulent mixture of all of these Whatever is causing it can't be as bad as the effect she's having on all of us.

Lets just say that DH made breakfast but ended up throwing his onto the kitchen work surface & storming out the house as he'd had enough. DD screamed, shouting BOG OFF to all & sundry (I blame Tracy Beaker for that one) & stropped whilst I spent the day upstairs in our bedroom knitting & feeling thoroughly miserable.

Gifts did come my way but only because I rang Get Knitted late last week & using our joint account treated myself to a few goodies:

I suppose I should be grateful that we only ever had one child....

No progress yet

on our moving saga. For once the delay is not caused by our nightmare buyer but by the use of the wrong letterhead on an essential piece of paperwork & the subsequent sluggishness of a vital clog in the wheel. So exchange of contracts still hasn't taken place but both we and our vendors are pushing for it.

This means that here in the blueadt house we're still living with a variety of boxes; packed, half packed & still flat packed. It's a horrible state to be in & we're still without a firm moving date so vans can't be booked, nor time off work or even rodent kennels for a certain hamster.

Add to this mix a chest infection resulting an abundance of night time coughing so not much sleep going on plus a VERY stroppy pre-teen. If you were planning to stop a while keep walking by....

Preoccupied

I've been quiet on here as we've got lots going on at home.

Our house move is finally progressing. Lets just say our buyer was 'dragging his heels' BIG style. So much so that early last week I thought the whole chain had fallen apart but he's now playing ball. We're expecting to exchange contracts within the next 10 days & hope to complete & move at the end of the month.

So lots of packing at our house & I've been solely responsible for keeping our branch of Freecycle alive & well (or so it seems) as I'm getting rid of LOADS of stuff.

However something happened on Thursday which has made things a bit difficult for me at the moment. As I was taking DD & her friend to school & patiently waiting for a gap in the traffic another driver went straight into the back of my car. The damage to the bumper is minor but I'm now fighting with the insurance company as they want to write off our 9 year old car So I've been finding quotes & can hopefully can get it repaired rather than scraped. All 3 of us had backache that morning & had to see a doctor. DD luckily is fine now & has played football & swam twice since the accident but both her friend & I have whiplash & are in agony. I've not been able to sleep for two nights & keep waking up as I'm in so much pain. So it's just as well that we've decided to hire a removal firm to move us rather than doing it ourselves.

Plus if this weren't enough DD has been allocated the school that we REALLY didn't want her to go to. The whole reason for moving was to keep her away from the girls who made her life hell at her previous primary school & the local authority have denied her a place at all 3 schools we've chosen & elected to send her to this school However I've been assured that once we move (to a different education authority but only about 4 miles away) she'll be able to go to the school of our choice - so please keep your fingers crossed for us that the move goes ahead without any more hold ups.

On a totally different note I forgot to show you all what DH got me on Valentines Day:

Cath Kidston Airedale
Cath Kidston - Stanley the Airedale keyring

I totally love him & want to thank Ari for the heads up & DH of course for buying him.
