DH has been threatening to cancel our holiday but so far I've managed to convince him that I'm not dying (although I'd love to crawl into bed) & we are going away tomorrow. DD isn't helping my cause though & has been found lying in bed in the afternoon fully dressed or lying down on the back seat of the car as she was too weak to sit upright. She fell asleep on the sofa last night so was put to bed at 6.20 p.m & went up at 5.45 p.m. today which is normally unheard of.
We're nearly ready to go away; clothes are packed away in the caravan cupboards, the roof box is back on the car & full of the heavy stuff & a list has been partially ticked off. Vinces' cage has been cleaned out, the grass cut for the first time in over two weeks as for once it hasn't rained today & we've spent a fortune on the car in the past two days as it was found to be in desperate need of repair We're going back to a site that we visited last year for a week. There are two good LYS's nearby but I'm going to try & be good & not bring too much home.
I have been knitting mainly on the my Lacy Scallop socks as I've lost all enthusiasm for Lady Eleanor since my disaster.
I was annoyed with myself on Friday morning as I discovered that I'd made a mistake on the Lacy Scallop sock. I'd been concentrating so carefully on the gusset decreases that I had carried the lace pattern on continously on the front of the sock without the garter/stocking stitch panel. I was sat in the garage with at least half an hour left to go before my car was driveable without my notions bag - hence no needle or waste yarn with which insert a lifeline.
Do I put it away & just sit here with nothing to do, twidderling my thumbs whilst waiting for the mechanics to finish the car or chance it & frog it???
I took the brave route & after putting a stitch marker in roughly the right place to stop me going back too far, removed the needles & RIPPED!!!! Of course the car was ready for me to take away when I had just a few stitches left to pick up & I was concentrating on it intensely - 4ply yarn with 2.5mm needles isn't easy to pick up at the best of times so the car had to wait.
1st Lacy Scallop sock nearly finished
Check out my new stitch markers - sent to me by Terri, many thanks
Now I've got to put a list together for my MIL of the things she needs to do whilst we're away including feeding of the cats & hamster but not to each other.......
